The ingenious X-talon outsole with a soft contact compound offers unrivaled grip. The outsole compound is very similar to the compounds used in climbing shoes. This gives the X-talon excellent grip on rocks and boulders (except wet limestone). The 13 mm midsole height in the heel, 7 mm midsole height in the toe, and 6 mm drop offer the optimal combination of cushioning and proprioception for a top-of-the-line cross-country shoe.
The relatively narrow upper has a full-perimeter rand that firmly secures the foot in the shoe bed, so you can rely on maximum performance even in difficult traverses. The sturdy upper material is treated with a DWR coating for temporary water resistance. In any case, the material is non-absorbent, retains its shape, and still provides excellent breathability. There are two pockets on the heel for attaching the original ALL TERRAIN GAITER ankle gaiter, which significantly insulates the ankle, prevents snow and other debris from entering the shoe, and thus enhances the experience and length of your run in adverse conditions.
The flat laces do not press on the instep and the softer heel does not press on the Achilles tendon, so the shoe fits the foot beautifully and forms a balanced whole. The 212 is one of the most precise shoes that can accurately read the running surface.
